Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.
Black as the pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.
In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.
Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds and shall find me unafraid.
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds and shall find me unafraid.
It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.
My favourite poem. I want the last two lines tattooed. Invictus was written by William Ernest Henley. He wrote it when he was 25, from a hospital bed after he had his foot amputated. It is a beautiful show of courage.
Avenged Sevenfold and Mike Portnoy have officially parted ways. It is sad but it was only ever supposed to be for a year anyway. I know the boys are coming back for the Download Festival, but I'm really hoping they do some more shows. I would give anything to see them play again.
With only two more days until Christmas, I'm beginning to worry, as my mother still hasn't bought the turkey. Everything is ready apart from that. I'm not a huge fan of Christmas, in fact I really don't like it. I'm such a scrooge.
